Bad Luck Govind Movie Review |

This here is a movie that could have been a laugh riot, but somewhere along the line, director Varun Khanna concentrated too much on the bickering of the gangs, thus throwing the focus off gear. What comes out strongly in the end is the 'mild gang war' rather than the comedy that is supposed to rest on Govind's bad luck. And for a raw actor, VJ Gaurav Kapoor who plays Govind, does a good job of it. He is supported well by the others and what rankles most is the plot going off target post intermission.
What is well established is that Govind has terrible bad luck, which means that even if his shadow falls on somebody, that person is in for trouble. What is not established is how some of them he comes in contact with are not affected. Also, the supposed gang rivalry between Kapoor (Parmit Sethi) and Pandey (Lalit Mohan Tiwary) is not penciled out. There could have been a sepia-toned flashback to establish their credentials to the plot but no, instead the director wastes time with a card game towards the end, which drags the film, even though it clocks just 120 minutes.
To come back to the story, a situation in the News Channel where Govind works in New Delhi, results in the anchor going 'live' on national television about her mother-in-law. Govind decides to come to the city of dreams, Mumbai. On the way, he is robbed of his bag and he lands up at a hospital to donate sperms to make a quick buck. There he meets Vishal (Amit Mistry) who gives him shelter in his chawl. Govind confesses his 'problem' to Amit and he is overheard by one of Kapoor's cronies. They use him to bring the other gang down.
